6. Why do we see a rainbow in the sky?
Ans: We see a rainbow in the sky due to dispersion of sunlight by tiny water droplets present in the atmosphere. Sunlight consists of seven colors (VIBGYOR) and these different colors deviate through different angles of deviation as they pass through a water droplet. This is called dispersion. Due to dispersion, different colors of sunlight reach our eyes from different directions and we see a rainbow in the sky.
